Te Kaha Stadium – Structural Roof Laser Scanning
Christchurch’s $683-million Te Kaha Stadium will seat 27,000 for sports and up to 37,000 for major concerts. Located centrally between Madras, Barbadoes, Hereford, and Tuam streets, the arena aims to energize the city, drive development, and reinforce Christchurch’s status as a hub for sports, culture, and tourism.
Graham Surveying, as the project surveyors for the Te Kaha Stadium project, was engaged by Jinggong Steel to develop a survey methodology and procedures for controlling the assembly and installation of the Structural Steel Roof.
This unique project presented significant challenges that our construction team successfully addressed with effective and efficient solutions.
The installation of the Radial Truss components began in December 2023. We collaborated closely with our clients to develop a solution for Laser Scanning each Radial Truss while it was being assembled on the ground. Providing same-day accuracy reports was crucial for keeping the installation on schedule and meeting project milestones.
The Radial Diaphragm Module (RDM) was the next component to be installed. As one of the more complex elements, we prioritized clear communication with the client. We regularly shared our scanning data and worked collaboratively to address any potential issues.
Graham Surveying is proud to contribute to this iconic project for Christchurch City. Our expertise in Laser Scanning has grown significantly through this work, and we look forward to future projects that demand innovative laser scanning solutions.
